Chain link is one of the lowest-maintenance fencing options available:

  • Periodic rinsing to remove dirt, debris, and organic buildup.
  • Rust inspection — check annually for any rust spots, particularly at ground level, and treat with rust-inhibiting coating if needed.
  • Tension checks — over time, mesh can loosen; periodic tightening keeps the fence secure and looking neat.
  • Post inspection — check that posts remain plumb and firmly anchored, especially after heavy storms or ground movement.

Vinyl-coated chain link requires even less attention, as the coating provides a durable barrier against moisture and corrosion with no painting required.
